In the final DBNSW points regatta for 2009 held at the Sydney International Rowing Centre, Penrith on December 13, the Central Coast club again performed up to and beyond expectations.

Racing for the day was held over 500 metres  which according to Club President, Rosemaree  Rettenmund “was a test of our stamina and strategies and a number of paddlers found the going tough in the first race until they acclimatised to the distance”. For the first time in a points regatta, a Grand Masters category was included and was won handsomely by the Central Coast “Grand Pooh-Bahs” team. The Club was placed in most of the heats and took out second in the Masters Open and third in the Masters Women final events.

Among the highlights were our biggest squad (40 paddlers) to attend a regatta, some of the best times ever achieved at Penrith over this distance and the presence of five new paddlers who were enjoying the excitement of their first regatta - welcome and congratulations to Cindy Holloway, Kerri Giles, Kathy Harford, Kristine James and Greg Maynard.

And so to our own regatta at Tacoma on January 9 - let’s make the best ever, both on and off the water!
